Building a Dream Through Life’s Hardest Moments
For Danielle Vstaj, entrepreneurship was never part of a carefully planned career path. It was born out of survival, love, and an unexpected turning point that changed her life forever.
Before launching Belle’s Books And Gifts, Danielle spent more than a decade working in retail. Like many hardworking individuals, she dedicated years of her life to demanding work environments, balancing responsibilities and doing her best to move forward. But over time, exhaustion began to take its toll.
Eventually, a serious workplace injury forced Danielle to stop working for a period of time.
Suddenly, life became uncertain.
Unable to work while facing growing medical bills — not only for herself but also for her beloved elderly dog — Danielle found herself in one of the most difficult moments of her life. The pressure was overwhelming, and she was unsure where to turn next.
But during that challenging period, she remembered something her brother had once told her years earlier: she should start her own shop.
At the time, the idea seemed impossible.
Now, it felt like her only option.

From eBay Listings to a Growing Brand
With limited resources and no clear roadmap, Danielle took a leap of faith.
She began small by selling some of her personal belongings on eBay. What started as a simple attempt to survive slowly turned into something much bigger. Although progress was gradual in the beginning, Danielle stayed determined and continued building step by step.
Eventually, the sales started growing.
Little by little, Belle’s Books And Gifts began generating enough income to help cover her dog’s medical needs — something that remained deeply important to her throughout the journey.
By 2016, the business had developed into a steady and growing online store, supported by positive customer reviews and eBay’s promotional tools. Customers connected not only with the products, but also with the authenticity and care behind the brand.
Danielle’s dedication and perseverance were beginning to pay off.
Then came 2020.
Like millions of businesses around the world, Danielle faced uncertainty during the pandemic. No one knew what would happen next, and the future felt unpredictable.
But unexpectedly, the shutdown caused online sales to skyrocket.
As more people turned to online shopping, Belle’s Books And Gifts experienced a major increase in visibility, sales, and customer engagement. The growing support and positive reviews attracted wider attention — eventually leading to a feature in NYC Journal.
That recognition became a major breakthrough.
Soon after, Danielle and her business were featured in major publications including Forbes Founder, The New York Times, Elle, and Glamour.
What began as a small online shop created during a personal crisis had evolved into a recognized and respected brand.

A Business Built on Love and Compassion
At the heart of Danielle’s story is something deeply personal: love for her dog.
Her motivation to build the business came from a place of compassion and responsibility. During one of the hardest periods of her life, caring for her beloved companion became the driving force that pushed her forward.
“It was mostly my concern for my dog, who I loved immensely,” Danielle shares. “I was driven to try and help him.”
That emotional connection shaped the foundation of Belle’s Books And Gifts and eventually inspired a much larger mission.
Danielle made a promise to herself that if the business ever became successful enough, she would use it to help others.
And she kept that promise.
Today, the business supports multiple charitable organizations and causes, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Feeding America, women’s shelters, RAINN, and animal rescue organizations.
After losing her beloved dog in 2020, Danielle became even more passionate about supporting causes connected to compassion, healing, and care for others.
